2010 Nov 27 - Dear Researchers, I am starting another book about the shipwreck of the Hive in 1835 on a beach near Jervis Bay. She carried 250 Irish convicts, plus soldiers and families from 21st & 28th regiments. They all survived and I would be interested to hear from descendants of any of them.
Also on board was Lieutenant Edward Lugard of the 31st Regiment and his brother Lieutenant Henry Lugard of the Royal Engineers. I have some background about both of these soldiers but would be interested to make contact with descendants.
Ensign Kelly of the 17th Regiment of Foot played a significant role in the rescue. He may be a member of the Kelly Waldron family. It would be most helpful if someone could confirm that.
Any help given to me will of course be fully acknowledged in the published book.
Many thanks in anticipation. Babette
